Medication Management

Medication Management

We understand that medication can play an important role in mental health treatment—but it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Our medication management services are designed to help you explore, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications in a thoughtful, supportive, and collaborative way.

Whether you’re new to medication, reevaluating your current regimen, or just looking for answers, we’re here to walk with you through every step of the process—with care, clarity, and respect.

Medication Management

What Is Medication Management?

Medication management is the process of evaluating, prescribing, and adjusting psychiatric medications to support your mental health. It includes:

  • A thorough psychiatric evaluation
  • Ongoing monitoring of how medications affect your symptoms and daily life
  • Adjustments to dosage or type of medication as needed
  • Support for managing side effects or interactions
  • Collaboration with therapists or primary care providers when appropriate

Our goal is to help you find the right medication—if one is needed—and ensure it continues to support your overall well-being.

Who Can Benefit from Medication Management?

Medication can be a helpful part of care for a wide range of mental health conditions, including:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Bipolar disorder
  • PTSD
  • ADHD
  • OCD
  • Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
  • Panic attacks
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Psychotic disorders or mood instability

You may benefit from medication management if:

  • You’re currently taking psychiatric medication and want expert support
  • You’ve tried medication before but had unpleasant side effects or minimal results
  • You’re starting therapy and wondering if medication could help
  • You want guidance in tapering off or adjusting medications with care
  • You feel your current treatment isn’t working as well as it could

You’ll never be pressured to take medication. Our role is to offer guidance, explore options, and support you in making informed decisions.

What to Expect from Your Care

Medication management starts with an initial psychiatric evaluation, which typically lasts 60–90 minutes. During this appointment, we’ll:

  • Discuss your mental health history and current symptoms
  • Review any medications you’ve taken in the past
  • Explore your lifestyle, medical history, and treatment goals
  • Create a personalized care plan that may include medication, therapy, or both

If medication is prescribed, follow-up visits (typically 30 or 60 minutes) allow us to track your progress, make adjustments, and ensure you’re feeling supported at every stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Medication is just one of many treatment options. If you’re interested in therapy without medication, that’s completely okay. Medication management is available for those who want to explore or maintain psychiatric medications as part of their care plan.

During your initial evaluation, we’ll talk about your symptoms, history, and goals. If medication seems like a helpful option, we’ll explain why and answer all your questions. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll explore other paths together. You’ll always have a say in your treatment.

That’s very common—and important to talk about. Our providers will listen to your concerns, review what hasn’t worked, and consider alternative options. Medication management includes careful monitoring and regular follow-ups to adjust your treatment as needed.

After your initial evaluation, most clients have follow-up appointments every 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the medication, response, and needs. These check-ins help ensure your treatment remains safe, effective, and aligned with your goals.

Yes. We offer virtual medication management across Arizona, in addition to in-person care at our Tucson office. Some controlled substances may require in-person visits depending on state regulations, but most medications can be managed remotely.
